137 years have passed since Alois Trancy's last birthday.. he will forever be thirteen, he realized, and somehow, it didn't bother him...
He smiled, his feet not eve hurting from the twenty mile slow walk to his grave sight.
He never really died, just disappeared into a sort of limbo Hannah created for him.. and luckily, Hannah is generous enough to give him eternal life as a demon.
The blonde swished his hair out of his eyes, the crimson color shining in the evening sunlight.
Today was his birthday, he had to keep reminding himself as he walked.
Today was a very special day for him, because he know he'd be getting another note from Ciel..
Ah, yes Ciel Phantomhive.
That gray haired Earl has been in London all his eternal life so far, living side by side with Sebastian. and almost every year, if not ounce a day, Ciel would leave a letter by Alois' grave.
Why, it never occurred to Alois, but the fact still remained; Ciel missed him.
The letters were usually nothing more than simple things telling him about his day, about up coming events, and about his thoughts and feelings. Occasionally, Ciel would ask something of Alois, and because the Phantomhive thought the boy was dead, Trancy would have to carry out these requests with much discretion.
Alois looked up ahead of him at the setting sun, just in time to watch it disappear into the horizon. He smirked, knowing he might actually beat Ciel to the grave tonight. He started up climbing the hill, past many of the newer graves.
Alois started to recall many of the events before his death. The fact that he'd even spoken to Ciel that way, given the circumstances at the moment was appalling.
He regretted every action leading up to his death.
And the Claude.. Oh Claude!
That good for nothing butler gave him nothing but heart ache and a broken neck!
Alois felt a thin hiss rising from his throat, that cruel air seeping out from between his teeth.
He did nothing but love that butler, did nothing but try his hardest to get that butler to love him back and-
Alois yelped as he tripped over a flattened head stone. He hit the ground with an 'oomph!' only taking a second to blush at his own clumsiness before staggering back upright and brushing himself off.
He scowled at the modern clothes he was wearing.
Evidently, it was not appropriate to wear his usual Victorian garb in such a vulgar area.. but then again  it was all about blending in now, wasn't it?
Alois started to approach his grave, seeing the crumbling stone ahead of him. The star above him twinkled ever so slightly, and the moon stared down with a menacing white glare.
Alois continued walking, seeing the now cold candle that ounce burned from the last time Ciel had come, and the blackened rose also from the last trip. He squatted down beside it, trailing his fingers over the writing..
Alois Trancy
Born Nov. 5, 1875.
Died Aug. 21, 1889.
He sighed, letting the cool, cracked and crumbling granite freeze his fingers.
The moment only lasted so long.
He heard footsteps approaching, and panicked, racing to the headstone next to him and hiding behind it. He poked his head around, just to watch and see who was coming.
No surprise, ti was Ciel Phantomhive.
Ciel approached Alois' headstone, a bouquet of flowers in hand, a new note, and a match. He bent down and laid the new roses over the old one, striking the match and lighting the candle. He laid the note in front of it and sat for a moment, also trailing his finger over the engravings.
Alois blushed from his ears to his chin in seeing Ciel there. Ciel sighed, his eyes filled with emotion, "Happy birthday, Alois.. I.. I'm so sorry..," Ciel looked at the lit candle, "Make a wish.."
Alois watched as Ciel closed his eyes, wiping the sleeve of his jacket over them. He stood and walked silently over, bending down and blowing out the candle, "I have no wish.. my only wish was for someone to spend my birthday with me.. and it looks like someone will.."
Ciel gasped and opened his eyes, which were now filled with tears. He stared up at Alois, "You.."
Alois smiled, the two boys crimson eyes glowing in the night, "I'm alive.."
Ciel blinked  and blushed, grabbing the note. Alois laughed, and took it right back, "Now, I've been reading every one of these.. I think I should at least get to read this one."
Ciel gasped and stood, trying to take the note again. Alois jerked his hand away, but was caught by surprise as Ciel actually grabbed it. Alois was about to protest, when Ciel quickly wrapped his arms around Alois in an embrace.
Alois blinked in shock, "Ciel, what on Earth-"
Ciel shook his head, "Alois, I'm the one who should be apologizing.. I wish I wasn't so naive, I should have realized.." He wallowed and stepped back, unfolding the letter, and holding it up for Alois to see.
Alois let his jaw drop slightly when he read it.
Ciel sighed, "Thank you for setting em free.."
Alois read those exact words as they crept from Ciel's lips.
Ciel looked dot the ground, and set the letter by Alois grave stone. Alois watched him as the former Earl smiled softly, "Now, Trancy.. what do you say we actually find something productive to do for your birthday?"
Alois took a second to blink in disbelief before walking over to Ciel with a smile.
"Depends on what that something is."
And at that, they both laughed.
Been awhile since I've written something Black Butler related, yes?
Well, this is for :iconlily-draws: she wanted this fan fiction written, and she said she couldn't do it herself because she's not a very good writer, so I offered up the part ^^
I do not own Kuroshitsuji nor the characters in it.
